Andres “Andy” Aranda, 89 of Peoria passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at The Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre.

He was born June 21, 1925 to Horacio Aranda Gallardo and Rosa Ismenia Astorga Mancilla in Vina del Mar, Chile. He married Jimmie Headrick in Peoria in 1985. She survives.

Andres “Andy” Aranda, 89 of Peoria passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at The Heights Healthcare and Rehabilitation Centre.

He was born June 21, 1925 to Horacio Aranda Gallardo and Rosa Ismenia Astorga Mancilla in Vina del Mar, Chile. He married Jimmie Headrick in Peoria in 1985. She survives.

Also surviving are; his children, Patricia Aranda Geldes of Sao Paolo, Brazil, Andres R. Aranda of East Peoria, Marcia Aranda Geldes de Olivares of Mendoza, Argentina, Jaime A. Aranda of Bloomington, IL, Esteban E. Aranda of Austin, TX and Elcira Aranda Ramirez of Pena Blanca, Chile; step-children, William Richard Chapman of Elyria, OH, Jeanne Marie Maslar of Bay Village, OH and Lynn Patrice Bonnett of Rockford, IL; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and two sisters, Maria Aranda de Malebran and Adriana Aranda de Wlack.

He was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Christine Adele McMahan; his sister, Sixta Aranda Lagos and his brother, Horacio Aranda Astorga.

He attended the Universidad Catholica de Chile after graduating from Liceo del Hombres in Vina del Mar. He worked as the train station master for the Chilean Government Railroad. In Peoria, he enjoyed working at Walfield’s on Washington St.

He was a good friend and neighbor to all. His neighbors once gave him a gift with the inscription that said he exemplified the Spirit of Christmas all year long.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 4, 2015 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the church Library. Cremation rites have been accorded by Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
